It is amazing how in many published materials, movies, books, etc., Poles are mistreated. In some, Polish contribution, faith, or involvement in historic events is misinterpreted, or ignored, (See: Historical Errors) in others Poles are used as the stupidest characters. Other nations successfully protested against such a discrimination. (Jews are the leaders in it, but they have resources and are well organized). There were no protests from either Polish organizations in America, nor from Polish government, at least I have not heard about them, which would denounce such practices. Examples:

• Enigma - Discovery states that this German coding machine was captured by British navy after sinking one of Germans submarines (U-boat). Subsequently the secret German code has been deciphered by English which attributed greatly to the fight against "wolf packs" and the whole German fleet.
  
  
  • Replica of Enigma had been built by Polish Center of Cryptography in 1932. Polish mathematicians: Marian Rajewski, Jerzy Rozycki, and Henryk Zygalski deciphered German code before war. In July 1939 one copy of the machine was sent to England another to France. In September 1939 the group of Polish cryptologists has been evacuated to France and then to Great Britain. Based on the Polish achievement British built their Center for Monitoring and Decrypting.

• Battleship "Bismarck" - Discovery mildly says that British sunk "Bismarck" on the Atlantic.
  
  
  • The search for "Bismarck" was going for months. The first who spotted it was Polish destroyer (under British colors) "Piorun". Much. much smaller then Germans' warship "Piorun" started to bite like a mad dog. Wounded by fire from "Bismarck" it kept following while sending messages to the British fleet providing them with logistics. Upon arrival of the fleet "Piorun" retired and return to scene few days later to take part in final sinking of "Bismarck".
    
    
• "Schindler's List" - The movie depicts Jews as the only victims of nazi occupation of Poland. It looks that the only nation being slaughtered in Auschwitz (Oswiecim) were polish Jews (however, somewhere close to the end it mentions transports of Jews from France and Italy). Jews were kept in "ghettos" while Polish were allowed to roam freely. Jews were not allowed to work, while Polish could enjoy all the benefits.
  
  
  • Poland during war was One Big Ghetto for the whole nation including Polish, Jews, Gypsies and other minorities.
    Even though some Poles were employed they were not paid as handsomely as the movie suggest, and most of the payment were food coupons. Concentration camp in Auschwitz was first built to group Polish prisoners from other camps in Third Reich and for incarceration of Polish intelligentsia as well as members of Polish underground movement. First who were poisoned to death by gas was a group of 850 Russians and Polish. Not until the construction of the second camp in Birkenau in 1942 extermination of Jews reached a significant number. Among 2 million people murdered in Auschwitz-Birkenau camps were about 1 million Jews but also about 600,000 Polish.

For the first two years of its existence, Auschwitz was used primarily for the execution of Polish Catholics by the Germans.
