The 38th Annual International Polonaise Ball was South Florida's premier Royal Ball. With an unparralleled nostalgia for Romanticism, the Polonaise Ball is the only Gala that embodies the true glamour and elegance of 19th century European nobility.  Following a cocktail reception, gala guests enjoyed a memorable evening, including a five-star dinner, traditional dancing to the tunes of the Frank Hubbel Orchestral Band and performance honoring legendary composer Fryderyk Chopin by the Polish American Dance Company and child prodigy Daniel Szefer.

Special Guests included President and Mrs. Lech Walesa, H.R.H. King Kigeli V of Rwanda, H.R.H Dom Miguel de Braganca Duke of Viseu and H.I.H. Prince Ermias Sahle-Selassie Haile-Selassie of Ethiopia.

President Lech Walesa presented a special Media Award to Dr. Horacio Aguirre (Founder and Editor of Diario las Americas) and Mr. Anders Gyllenhaal (Executive Editor of The Miami Herald) for their promotion of Polish business, cultural and history for almost four decades.  Amicus Polonaie awards were given to Mrs. Isabel Leibowitz, Mrs. Olga Melin and Mr. Philip Caswell 3rd for their support of young pianists and the Chopin Foundation of the United States.  Commissioner Natacha Seijas, Dr. Langelbartel and Mr. Agustin Anievas were presented with Gold Medal Awards, the highest honor awarded by the American Institute of Polish Culture to celebrate their contributions to the promotion of the music of Chopin and the preservation of this musician's history.

PIAST INSTITUTE INITIATES A NEW SURVEY OF THE POLISH
AMERICAN COMMUNITY

Hamtramck, Michigan – Piast Institute, a National Institute for Polish and Polish-American Affairs, has initiated a new online survey to find out more about the attitudes of Polish Americans of all generations in regard to key public issues, their ideas for the future of our community and their feelings about the values that should motivate Polonia. The survey is one of a series the Piast Institute is doing to help our community understand itself and provide direction for those who lead Polish Organizations. It will also help them to speak with confidence that they are acting in accord with our views.

The Polish American Community draws on the rich traditions of the Polish History and culture and the experience of more than seven generations as a community in America. Both of these heritages provide us with a unique perspective that can add much to the public dialogue on national and international affairs. Our voice deserves to be heard in the public arena and in the halls of power.

We invite every Polish American from new immigrants to those of third or later generations to participate. To make your voice heard go to piaststudy.blogspot.com and click on the link. The questionnaire is 49 questions and is completely anonymous.
